Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and Touch Grass AB for your use of Linny. They are written to be read. Please read section 3 on foraging safety in particular — it matters more here than the usual small print.

In effect 24 July 2026

1. The agreement

Linny (“the app”, “the service”) is provided by Touch Grass AB, reg. no. 559484-7435, Idunsgatan 46, 214 46 Malmö, Sweden (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Where the App Store’s own terms also apply to your purchase, they sit alongside these; nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under Sweden and EU law.

2. What Linny is

Linny is a seasonal foraging-conditions forecast for Sweden. It reads terrain and weather to tell you where the ground is suitable for a given species and how conditions are moving over the coming days, and it lets you keep a private record of your own spots and finds.

It is a planning tool. A favourable read describes conditions and habitat; it is a “conditions-favourable” signal, explicitly not a probability and not a promise that anything is growing. Good ground on a good day can still be empty. That is the nature of foraging, and the app is built not to pretend otherwise.

3. Foraging safety — read this

Linny does not identify species and does not tell you whether anything is safe to eat. There is no camera identification, no “this looks like” feature, and no edibility judgement anywhere in the app. You choose the species yourself, from a list, and the app forecasts conditions for that choice.

Wild mushrooms and plants include species that are toxic and, in some cases, deadly, and some dangerous species closely resemble edible ones. You are solely responsible for correctly identifying anything you pick and for deciding whether it is safe to eat. Never eat a wild find on the strength of this or any app. Learn identification from a reliable book, a course, or a person who knows, and have your basket checked by a qualified mushroom inspector (svampkonsulent) when in any doubt.

You are also responsible for foraging lawfully and safely: respecting the right of public access (allemansrätten) and its limits, protected areas and picking bans, private land and the home zone (hemfridszon) around dwellings, and your own physical safety in the outdoors. The app’s suggestions are places conditions may be favourable; they are not a statement that you are permitted to pick there.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for illness, injury, loss or damage arising from anything you pick, eat, or do in reliance on the app. This does not limit any liability that cannot be limited by law.

4. Your account

You can use the free forecast without an account. Some features — keeping private spots, claiming a username, restoring a membership across devices — use an account, which may be an anonymous identifier on your device or, if you choose, Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure. You must be old enough to enter a contract in your country to hold a membership.

5. Membership and billing

The forecast is free. A membership unlocks the paid features described in the app — including a live read and best day for each spot you keep, alerts when your own ground moves, and the ability to keep an unlimited number of spots private.

Membership is offered as a season pass at 449 kr and a weekend pass at 59 kr. Prices are shown in the app inclusive of any applicable VAT and may vary by region and over time; the price shown at purchase is the price that applies to that purchase. Payment is taken by Apple through your App Store account. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

6. Renewal, cancellation and the free tier

The season pass renews automatically at the end of each season unless you turn off renewal at least 24 hours before it ends. The weekend pass does not renew. You manage and cancel any subscription in your App Store account settings, not in the app; cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves your current period running to its end.

When a membership ends, nothing you recorded is destroyed. Access to paid features stops, but your spots, finds, photographs and journal remain on your device exactly as you left them, and a private spot stays private. If you renew, they are there waiting. Deleting your data is only ever something you choose to do deliberately (see the privacy policy).

7. Right of withdrawal

As an EU consumer you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content. Because a membership gives you immediate access to a digital service, by purchasing you ask us to begin performance at once and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal is lost once the service has been fully provided. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its refund policy; contact us at info@touchgrass.consulting if something has gone wrong and we will help.

8. Your content

Your spots, finds, notes and photographs are yours. We do not claim ownership of them. To run the service on your device and, where you ask for it, to back it up and to share a find, you grant us a limited licence to store and process that content for those purposes only.

If you choose to publish a find, you grant us and other users a licence to display the coarse, coordinate-free card that publishing produces (a species, a season, a province), for as long as you keep it published. How that works, and how your exact locations are kept off any public surface, is set out in the privacy policy.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • submit false or misleading finds, or content that is unlawful, abusive or infringing;
  • attempt to derive another person’s private spot locations — including by systematically querying published surfaces to reconstruct a location;
  • copy, scrape, resell or redistribute the app’s forecasts, terrain data or other content except as these terms or the underlying data licences allow;
  • reverse-engineer, interfere with, or attempt to break the security of the service, or use it to break the law.

We may remove content or suspend access where these terms are broken. Where we act on a report, we hold content for review rather than deleting your account on a single flag, and we will not silently ban you.

10. Our intellectual property

The app, its design, its forecasting engine and its original content are owned by Touch Grass AB and protected by law. These terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own foraging. Underlying public datasets remain the property of their providers and are used under their licences — Lantmäteriet and SMHI data under CC BY, and others as credited in the app and on this site; botanical plates used are in the public domain.

11. Availability and changes

We work to keep the service available and accurate, but we provide it “as is”. Weather and terrain data come from third parties and can be delayed, incomplete or wrong; where a key input is missing or stale, the app is designed to lower its confidence and show that, rather than fill the gap. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we will give reasonable notice of material changes that affect a paid feature you rely on.

12. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your non-waivable rights as a consumer. Subject to that, and in particular subject to section 3:

  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your reliance on a forecast, a suggestion, or your own identification of a find;
  • our total liability to you for any claim connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.

13. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time and delete your data from within it. We may end or suspend your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If we end your access, the parts of these terms that by their nature should survive — content licences you have granted for already-published cards, our intellectual property, and the liability and law sections — continue to apply.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Sweden. If you are a consumer, you benefit from any mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts. You can also use the EU’s online dispute resolution platform for consumer disputes.
